There is probably no man in America who has done more ofbenefit to the profession of composing in this country thanhas Deems Taylor, for through his own personal success he hasboth proved and disproved certain definite impressions whichhave clung traditionally to the composers’ craft, thereby clearinga path that will make it far easier for others to proceed toworth-while achievement in what has to date been classed as theleast favored of all arts.
