PREFACE.
Among the Hymns in the following collection willbe found many which are not of the commonlyrecognized metres. Some of these are already setto music of their own. Others can readily beadapted by the choir-leader to the simple chantswhich are now generally found in our collections ofSacred Music.
An asterisk prefixed to the author’s name indicatesthat some change has been made in the hymnby the present compilers.
The titles of the Supplementary Hymns in thepresent edition have been introduced within theoriginal table of contents, instead of forming a separateseries at the end.
