The Science of Foretelling Future Eventsby Dreams.
Since the world began, “coming events havecast shadows before,” and many of the importantincidents in our lives are shown us inour dreams if we only understood their fullinterpretation.
The following are a few of the most certainsigns, and can almost invariably be reliedupon. For dreams not mentioned here, apleasant dream almost invariably indicatesgood health, successful ventures and generalprosperity, while evil dreams are forebodingsof ill health and other troubles.
Abuse.—To dream that you are abused andinsulted is a certain sign you will have a disputewith some person with whom you havebusiness, and, after such a dream, you shouldbe particularly careful to be as gentle and mildas possible, that you may not give those withwhom you have dealings any advantage overyou; if you are in love, be assured that someone has attempted to injure you with the objectof your affections, and that they have in agreat measure succeeded. You should, therefore,after such a dream, be particularly attentive;eradicate the unfavorable impressionsthat have been made; if you have a lawsuit,keep a sharp lookout after your attorney, for[3]such a dream, in that case, denotes that he isendeavoring to sell your cause; avoid taking ajourney by land, or a voyage by sea, for eightand forty hours, because such a dream forebodesaccidents by travelling.
Abraham.—To dream of Abraham denotesgood fortune, accumulation of riches; in love,many rivals; in law, many difficulties, an increasein your business. He may give yousome valuable information how to avoid trouble.
Adam.—To dream of Adam is a particularlygood omen, and brings good fortune to thedreamer.
Adversary.—To dream you meet with anadversary denotes that you will overcome someobstacle to your happiness; if you are a lover,you will conquer some powerful rival, and behappy in your love; your affairs are going onwell; if you are in trade, an increase of business;if you quarrel, and he overcomes you, itis a good sign, for you will conquer all obstaclesto your promotion, happiness and fortune;but, if you conquer him, then you will neverrise to any great preferment by the means youare at present adopting; many things will miscarrywith you, but in general you will be fortunate.
